Getting Your Peoples’ Pay Right - Everything Else Is Difficult If You Don’t
Thursday, July 30th, 2009Back in 1966 Frederick Herzberg found that pay was a key hygiene factor affecting peoples' motivation. The analogy is that being hygienic will stop you being sick but will not necessarily make you healthy. With pay, it may not be the key motivator but, unless it was perceived as being fair, not much else was going to motivate people. We need to get this right before we can hope to fully engage our people.
